Fight Club

I'm embarrassed to admit that every time I wanted to buy this book, I talked myself out of it because buying it went against the principles of Fight Club. What I really should have done is steal it, but I'm too much of a pussy to get arrested over a ten dollar book.

Anyway, I got it, I read it, and so should you.

What am I reading

Freakonomics [Revised and Expanded]: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything

Pros: Good read, good, a definite eye opener.

Cons: Not enough content, case studies too superficial, too short, and the author has a very annoying habit of stroking himself in between every chapter using excerpts from a Time article about him as lube.

What am I reading

Just finished Bod Woodward's "Plan of Attack". Good read, but probably could have been shortened quite a bit. He spends too much time explaining stuff that doesn't need to be explained. No one picks up a 600 page modern history book without knowing who the players are and what they do.

He also does a little too much of this kind of crap "Powell looked at Rice and wondered to himself, what did she eat for breakfast that day". There is no way that he could have known, and it did nothing to improve the book.

Other than that, its a a great book, and is worth reading just to learn how fucked up and clueless these war-mongers really are, and how we got into this mess in the first place.

What I'm reading

Just finished Richard Dawkin's book, "The God Delusion". Highly recommend, although I think the first 80 pages or so are a jumbled mess. If you can make it past that crap, then the rest of the book is decent.
